Job Description Tommy Bahama the purveyor of island lifestyles has evolved their successful men's and women's upscale casual sportswear, golfwear, accessory and home furnishings collections into a well respected restaurant and retail operation that serves up island-inspired fare and lots of tropical fun. Tommy Bahama is looking for a qualified Event Coordinator to join our restaurant division.
MISSION: To solicit, plan, and manage special catering events. Provide guest service and maintain the “Tommy Bahama” lifestyle, culture, and atmosphere. Promote a positive guest experience through the consistency special catered event.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Guest Service: Demonstrating the Tommy Bahama philosophy, and ensuring guest satisfaction. Providing ides and supporting the needs of the guest throughout the planning and execution of the event.
Teamwork: Supports team members and focuses on achieving team goals.
Product Knowledge: Has a working and presentation knowledge of the catering opportunities and what can be delivered to the guest. Fully understands food projection requirements and liquor and service thresholds.
Procedures: Ensuring procedures are utilized and that events are appropriately staffed and planned for.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Guest Service-
• Creates a warm and welcome “Tommy Bahama” environment
• Generates hospitality and flexibility with the guest
• Solicits new business through presentations at local hotels and businesses
Teamwork-
• Generates hospitality and flexibility with the team.
• Awareness to the relationships between the restaurant and the guests of the event.
• Works with Chef on menus and proper pricing for functions
• Keeps appropriate staff updated on the special event schedule ensuring that all needs are taken care of
Product Knowledge
• Fully understands Menu
• Know how to pull together bids for potential events
• Responsible for overall event coordination
• Participates in Industry Related Groups (i.e. NACE)
• Creates and manages a Marketing plan for special events. Responsible for tracking results against sales plan and reporting monthly results to the Manager.
Procedures
• Awareness to details in overseeing special event operations
EXPERIENCE, TALENT AND EDUCATION
Restaurant Experience:
Industry related work experience, minimum of 4 years
General overall awareness of restaurant operations
Industry certificates such as serve-safe or food handlers card
Event Planning Experience:
Industry related work experience minimum of 2 years
Industry certificates, college or certified classroom study programs, i.e. CMP
Overall knowledge, experience and planning skills for corporate and private events
Guest Service Experience:
Minimum of 4 years service oriented industry
Computer skills, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
Leadership and communication
Visual Merchandising
