Job Description
Corporate Director of Revenue Management Location: San Francisco - Home Office # of openings: 1 Description · Job Overview: The Corporate Director of Revenue Management (CDRM) will be responsible for five critical aspects of company-wide revenue management including; development of the revenue management discipline, market analysis, developing and delivering RM tools and training to GMs & RM, demand forecasting, and defining the company’s standard operating procedures within the Global Distribution System and the various Alternative Distribution Systems while providing pricing guidelines to be used throughout all channels. The position supports the General Managers and Directors of Sales in meeting budgeted occupancy, ADR and revenue goals. This position serves the company as the revenue management expert as it relates to all distribution channels including ADS, GDS and voice reservations; this includes supporting the progression toward an integrated reservations system and guest profile database. The CDRM attends bi-weekly Operations Department meetings and is a member of the JDV Executive Committee.. Qualifications/Skills: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and /or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Essential: 1. Minimum 5 years hotel Revenue Management experience 2. Experience and working knowledge of various hotel yield systems (PMS), GDS and ADS management systems 3. Ability to communicate well with a variety of positions and executives 4. Strong analytical skills and the ability and drive to draw conclusions and take decisive action with regard to the analysis 5. Ability to facilitate high-level meetings 6. Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations 7. Expertise in working with Excel and producing reports using other computer applications 8. Knowledge of current economic conditions and their impact on the travel and lodging industry 9. Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal customers and outside vendors, collect information and resolve conflicts Desirable: 1. Previous experience in hotel sales and guest services in the CA. market 2. Proven track record of excellent performance as a Revenue Manager for a minimum of two years 3. Attended Revenue Management seminars 4. Experience working in a variety of economic climates 5. Knowledge of the Fidelio Opera, Fidelio 6 and Autoclerk property management systems as well as I-Hotelier reservations system. 6. College degree 7. Experience doing strategic revenue planning at the corporate or regional level 8. Significant experience and relationships with key contacts at Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com, Hotwire, and Priceline. Essential Job Functions: · Analyzes market segmentation reports, source code reporting and price denial information with a goal of using this information to assure hotels remain agile and respond quickly to the marketplace · Interprets various market intelligence reporting · Works with Director of Brand Marketing on JdV website pricing and special offers · Manages the initiative to set brand standards in each hotel’s pricing structure, as well as how they are represented on the various e-channels · Participates in the setting of both short and long term pricing strategies for hotels including: transient, group, and volume discounts for preferred accounts · Acts as liaison between hotel, Director of Brand Marketing, and IDS account reps to maintain the right balance of inventories and production to yield highest revenues possible on the e-channels · Manages the contract negotiations for the various IDS channels · Participates in the creation of each hotel’s revenue budgets · Provides Executive Committee weekly updates on revenue management strategies and pricing strategies at each of our hotels · Oversees all hotels demand forecasting and provides guidance and oversight to property Revenue Managers on effective yielding. · Keeps abreast of various e-channel distribution trends, technology related trends and makes recommendations to senior management as appropriate. · Property Revenue Managers have dotted-line responsibility to CDRM · Possible future implementation of Central Reservations Department. · Create standard operating procedures and training manuals for exisiting and new hotels. · Continuous improvement of reporting, forcasting and yielding tools. · Continue to build a strong team of Revenue Managers and focus on thier learning and development. Secondary Job Functions: · Meet regularly with area RM’s to keep current on regional trends and perspectives in the industry and economic climate · Attend educational seminars to keep current on trends in Revenue Management
